For a night, the first floor of Martin Hall became an arena for the Xbox 360. Rooms 2121 and 2109 held the dim glow of projector screens lighting what would become a battlefield lined with wireless controllers and cans of Mountain Dew. First up was "NCAA Football 08," whose winner was Robert Motley, sophomore in pre-business, who came out on top after one overtime.
Next was the "Halo 3" tournament, a fun-filled virtual frag fest that pitted 22 contenders against each other in the game’s deathmatch arenas. The games started around 8:45 p.m., after the "NCAA Football 08" ended, and lasted until 11:30 p.m.
“Most of them were walk-ons,” said Will Cornelius, Veishea Tournament committee co-chairman and junior in agronomy. “Which was good, and kinda what we expected.”
But the night of "Halo" truly belonged to the victors: Rob Hingstrum (Soph. Bio), and Caleb Calhoun (Soph. Math). Congratulations to them both on their long-fought victory.
Martin Hall 2121 and 2109 will host other gaming tournaments Tuesday night, featuring "Dance Dance Revolution" and "Guitar Hero." So, be sure and drop on by and step on up for more hot Xbox action.
